MANILA, Philippines—Five people were injured in a crash involving five vehicles along Rizal Avenue in Blumentritt, Tondo, on Wednesday night.
The Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) said the victims were on board a jeepney, a taxi, a tricycle, a motorcycle, and an SUV. Responders from the DRRMO Medical Response Team, together with the Bureau of Fire Protection–Emergency Medical Services Manila and several volunteer brigades, provided first aid before rushing the victims to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities said the speeding SUV, reportedly driven by a foreigner, first struck the road’s center island, lost control of the wheel and rammed into the four other vehicles.
The Manila Police District (MPD) on Thursday said it was still investigating the incident.
