Businesses and non-profit organizations regularly open and move in Saskatoon. Today the StarPhoenix talks to Mankinder Randhawa, who opened BlueHorse Vehicle Studio in Silverwood Heights in October.

BlueHorse offers vehicle customization and detailing services for all kinds of vehicles and boats, including cars, bikes, trucks, semis and trailers. Although just 26 years old, Mankinder already has a wealth of vehicle experiences on his resume including detailing, car washing, cleaning, wrapping and tire services.

Q: What services does BlueHorse Vehicle Studio provide?

A: Basically what we are doing is customization of vehicles and detailing. We will do almost anything on the outside of the vehicle – except painting. We also offer interior detailing. Basically, you just drop your car off here and tell us what you need done and we’ll get it done. It’s going to be a BlueHorse sprint on that.

Q: Who are your customers?

Article content

I am expecting people who take good care of their car, somebody who likes their ride and likes to keep it clean. It could be an everyday commuter, it could be somebody who drives a Porsche or somebody who drives a small car like a Jetta like myself. I want to make detailing something that is affordable for everybody because who doesn’t like a clean car?

Q: Could you tell us more about your services?

A: Our big service is detailing cars, boats, semi trucks and bikes – anything that’s got wheels, we will do. For detailing, we can do a ceramic coating on the outside and paint correction as well. We are not going to be doing any paint jobs, but we’ll take sandpaper or grit paper and polish the surface really smooth with a cutting compound. We offer waxing and ceramic coating.

We will also be doing wraps and paint protection film services (PPF). We can take a grey car and make it black (or change from any colour to another) with a wrap that goes around the car and sticks onto the exterior of the body. People with nice fancy sports and muscle cars do that. Every summer they might change the colour without painting. A really good wrap will last you for two years or more if you take care of it.

Paint protection film is similar to wrap, but the purpose is different. You can get a different coloured PPF to change the colour, but the main purpose of a PPF is it will prevent scratches and rock chips and it will keep the surface very clean.

Q: Do you offer interior detailing?

Article content

A: Yes. On the interior we do a dry detailing – a dry cleaning – and a steam cleaning as well. If somebody has oil stains or anything like that, we’ll be able to take care of that. We do shampooing on the inside and polishing. Basically whatever gets your car clean, we do.
