A ministerial committee comprising industry ministers from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries approved a recommendation to impose final anti-dumping duties on automotive battery imports (accumulators or electric assemblies) originating from or exported by China and Malaysia.

Mahfouz Al-Ruqadi, Director General of the GCC Bureau of Technical Secretariat for Anti Injurious Practices in International Trade, told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the decision is based on a full investigation carried out by the Secretariat as the competent authority for member states.

He added that the ministerial resolution, now officially published, adopts the Standing Committee’s recommendation to implement the final anti-dumping tariffs.

The measures apply to automotive batteries, accumulators, or electric groups, including separators, whether rectangular or square, of lead-acid types used to start piston engines.
