The driver of a white sport utility vehicle that struck an east Windsor utility pole, causing the vehicle to flip on its side, has been charged with impaired driving.

The single-vehicle collision occurred Friday morning, just before 5 a.m., at Lauzon Road and Wyandotte Street East.

Police said there were no physical injuries but as officers were speaking with the driver, they reported detecting an odour of alcohol on his breath and observed “other signs of impairment.”

The man was arrested and transported to Windsor police headquarters, where he allegedly failed a breath test.

The 26-year-old man now faces two charges, including impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving with a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit.
