Saudi Commerce Recalls 33,250 Toyota, Lexus Vehicles Over Software Defect

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Commerce has announced the recall of 33,250 Toyota and Lexus vehicles over a software defect that could heighten the risk of accidents, according to the Saudi Gazette.

The ministry revealed that the malfunction stems from a software issue in the vehicles’ electronic control unit responsible for parking assistance.

This defect may prevent the rearview camera display from appearing on the screen when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. Therefore, it increases the risk of accidents.

The issue affects multiple Toyota and Lexus models produced between 2022 and 2025, including the Land Cruiser, Crown, LX600, Prado, LC500, Mirai, Highlander, Camry, LS500/LS500h, RX, UX, NX, and ES variants.

The ministry urged vehicle owners to check their vehicle identification number through Recalls.sa.

It also noted that citizens can follow all recall campaigns for defective goods and products through the Defective Products Recall Center website, Recalls.sa.
