Authorities arrested a call center agent who allegedly used her co-worker’s name to release a vehicle from a car dealership, with the vehicle ending up unpaid.

According to Emil Sumangil’s exclusive “24 Oras” report on Tuesday, Ivy (not her real name) said she got along with Kath (also not her real name), who eventually offered her extra income.

Ivy said she was told that her name would be used to release a vehicle in exchange for P10,000.

She initially had doubts about the offer, but eventually agreed since it was her colleague and fellow call center agent involved.

She then gave a copy of her driver’s license, passport, and other documents.

After two months, Ivy found out that the vehicle was unpaid after a debt collector came to her house.

This caused her severe stress as she lost her job, spent money on a lawyer, and could not go home out of shame.

The Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) arrested Kath at her home in the City of Santa Rosa, Laguna by virtue of an arrest warrant for estafa in relation to technical carnapping.

The suspect would target call center agents in her “labas-casa” modus.

Kath is also allegedly involved in the “assume balance” modus that targets people who are unable to pay the monthly installments on their vehicles.

The suspect would then engage in theft once the victims turn over the vehicles.

Kath did not comment on the matter and other similar estafa cases that reached millions of pesos.

The PNP-HPG said it is still searching for Kath’s accomplices, including a woman whom Kath allegedly passed the vehicle to.

Ivy urged the suspects to return the vehicle and admit to their wrongdoings.
