Aware Super will join with the United Kingdom’s sovereign wealth fund and infrastructure investment firm Equitix to invest more than $1 billion into a new battery business that will roll out more than 1 gigawatt of storage.

The battery business, named Eelpower Energy, will build the storage for the British energy grid, and the £500 million venture adds to the deals by industry super funds deploying capital in international markets.
