Four Essex County drivers were nabbed by OPP over four days, and each now faces impaired driving charges, including one involved in a single vehicle collision.

Ontario Provincial Police arrested a 42-year-old Belle River woman Monday following a vehicle stop in Lakeshore.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. on County Road 22 near Advance Boulevard. The driver now faces two counts of impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

A 21-year-old Stoney Point driver was arrested following a collision Saturday in Leamington.

OPP officers responded around 1:30 a.m. to County Road 31 in Leamington. The driver was charged with impaired driving, driving without a licence and failure to produce a permit. No injuries were reported.

A 22-year-old Windsor woman was arrested Monday at approximately 2 a.m. following a vehicle stop on Riverside Drive East by OPP officers in Tecumseh.

The driver was charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and/or drugs, failure to comply with a demand and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

And a fourth driver was charged following a traffic complaint in Lakeshore.

OPP officers responded Friday night around 10 p.m. to a location on County Road 46 in Lakeshore. A 43-year-old South Woodslee woman was arrested and charged with two counts of impaired driving.

Each of the four drivers charged between Friday and Monday received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.

“The safety of our community is paramount, and we will continue to enforce impaired driving laws to keep our roads safe,” the OPP said in a statement.

Urgent traffic complaints, or any suspicion that someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired by drugs or alcohol, should be directed to police via 9-1-1.
