Police alerted the fire service experts at about 9:20 a.m. One vehicle had two occupants, with the passenger trapped. The driver was alone in the second vehicle.

Firefighters first stabilized the second car, then used specialized hydraulic tools to remove the front and rear passenger-side doors to access the individual.

The occupant was safely extricated at 9:37 a.m. and transferred to Ottawa paramedics.
