From Marabella to Mayaro: Stolen Mazda recovered

A 36-year-old car on its way to becoming an antique was stolen on Sunday morning.

The Mazda 323 hatchback valued at approximately $10,000, had been parked along Union Road near Solera.

According to police, the vehicle was secured by its 78-year-old owner around 6a.m. and was discovered missing upon return at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Officers from the Marabella Police Station, led by PC Edwards conducted interviews, examined the scene, and reviewed CCTV footage. Alerts were broadcast to the Southern Division Command Centre to assist in the search.

The vehicle was spotted in El Dorado in north Trinidad that day.

Later that evening, around 8p.m., the stolen vehicle was recovered intact in the Mayaro Police District. One suspect, 58 years old and from Moruga, was detained and is currently held at the Mayaro Police Station.
