Lemonade charges half of the per mile insurance for Tesla cars when Tesla FSD is active.
Lemonade collaborates directly with Tesla to access real-time vehicle telemetry data, which allows them to precisely differentiate between FSD-engaged miles and human-driven miles (down to the second, in some descriptions).
This means no separate physical device (like a plug-in tracker used in some standard pay-per-mile policies) is required for Tesla vehicles under this plan. The billing adjustment happens seamlessly through the Tesla data feed.
For non-FSD or non-Tesla policies, Lemonade may use a device or app for mileage tracking, but the FSD-specific discount relies on this Tesla integration.
In practice, your monthly bill would look something like
base rate + (standard per-mile rate × manual miles) + (half per-mile rate × FSD miles).
The exact rates vary by factors like your driving history, location, and vehicle model, but Tesla owners in eligible states can get quotes via the Lemonade app or their Tesla-specific portal.
