Lucid Air Enters The Guinness World Record For Completing 1200 Km Without Charging

Never before has an electric car driven as far on a single battery charge as a Lucid Air. A Lucid Air Grand Touring entered the Guinness World Records book by driving more than 1,200 kilometres without recharging at a charging station.

Among the various versions of the Lucid Air, the Lucid Air Grand Touring boasts the greatest range. The 831 hp Lucid Air Grand Touring squeezes up to 960 kilometers from its 110 kWh battery. At least, that is the factory specification. Of course, there is more to it. Almost 250 kilometres more, even.

As announced by Lucid, whose majority owner is the Saudi state investment fund Public Investment Fund (PIF), their Lucid Air Grand Touring model moved from the Swiss city of St. Morica via Austria to the German city of Munich with one battery charge, a total of 1205 kilometers. This surpassed the Guinness world record of 1,045 kilometers, which was achieved by a Mercedes car in June of this year.

“This record range represents an important milestone,” emphasised Lucid Vice President Eric Bach.

German automotive expert Stefan Brazel told dpa that with advances in charging speed and the expansion of electric car charging systems, the range of electric cars is becoming less important. However, he admitted that “the issue of range is still on the minds of many customers.”
