A man has died in a single vehicle road collision in Co Tipperary today.
The incident took place on the R660 at Holycross shortly after 2.15pm
The sole occupant of the vehicle, a man in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man’s body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted. The local Coroner has been notified.
A technical examination of the scene has been carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has since fully reopened.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident five people were hospitalised in a single vehicle near Cappawhite in Co Tipperary.
The collision took place around 6.15am on a local road at Toem involving an SUV.
The five occupants of the vehicle, three men in their 30s and two women in their 20s, were taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.
Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A technical examination of the scene was carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has since fully reopened.
