Three people from Chennai were killed, and two others sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in rammed the median near Vikravandi and collided with a lorry on the Chennai-Trichy national highway on Thursday (October 2, 2025).
In the impact, the car caught fire and flames engulfed the entire vehicle within a few minutes.
The police said five persons were travelling in the car from Kolathur in Chennai to Munnar in Kerala. When they approached Vikravandi, the driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed it against the median. It then collided with a lorry and caught fire.
In the impact, Shamsuddin, 25, of Thiruvellikeni, Rishi of Kolathur, and Mohan of Avadi died on the spot. Two others sustained injuries and were admitted to the Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital.
Traffic on the Highway came to a standstill for more than an hour due to the accident.
A case has been registered.
