
Vivo has unveiled a new entry-level smartphone, the Y500i. The newest sibling in the Y500 series features a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, up to 12 GB of RAM, 512 GB of internal storage, a 50 MP primary camera, and a large 7,200 mAh battery with 44 W wired charging support.
Vivo has launched its latest entry-level smartphone, the Y500i, in China, joining the Y500 and the Y500 Pro in the brand’s roster. To recall, both smartphones debuted last year in China. The company’s new Y500i smartphone brings a decent set of features for the price. Speaking of the chipset, the device is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, coupled with up to 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage with no room for storage expansion.
For photography, it offers a dual rear camera setup, consisting of a 50 MP primary camera with autofocus and an unknown sensor. Upfront, you are getting a 5 MP snapper for selfies and video chats. Dimensionally, the smartphone is 8.49 mm (0.33 inch) thick and weighs around 219 grams (0.48 lbs).
Talking about the panel, the Vivo Y500i has a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. The rest of the highlights include an IP698/69 water resistance rating, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, an infrared sensor, Bluetooth 4.2, dual-band WiFi, and SGS Gold Label 5-star certification for durability. Available in phoenix gold, obsidian black, and galaxy silver colorways, the Vivo Y500i starts at CNY 1,499 (~$215) for the base 8 GB + 128 GB variant, while the 8 GB + 256 GB, the 8 GB + 512 GB, the 12 GB + 256 GB, and the 12 GB + 512 GB variants are priced at CNY 1,799 ($255), CNY 1,999 ($285), CNY 1,999 ($285), and CNY 2,199 ($315), respectively.
