Department spokesperson Unathi Binqose said the officer was declared dead on the scene.

A culpable homicide case has been opened at the Jeffreys Bay police station for further investigation, according to Binqose.
The road, which serves as the primary access route connecting Jeffreys Bay to Gqeberha to the east and the Tsitsikamma region to the west, has since been closed to traffic.
Motorists are being redirected by traffic law enforcement officers.
