On the face of it, these specifications imply that Xiaomi is re-using the display from last year’s Redmi Pad Pro, an IPS panel that also delivers 600 nits peak brightness. The Redmi Pad 2 Pro features a 25% larger battery though, which now totals 12,000 mAh. Unfortunately, wired charging wattages have dropped from 33 W to 27 W between the Redmi Pad Pro and Redmi Pad 2 Pro.

The Redmi Smart Pen returns, as does a detachable keyboard that lacks a built-in trackpad. Similarly, the Redmi Pad 2 Pro contains a single rear-facing camera just like the Redmi Pad Pro before it. Based on recent leaks, Xiaomi plans to sell the Redmi Pad 2 Pro with and without 5G connectivity, all powered by Qualcomm’s recent Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset.
